1. Who we are
Updeshi Matrimony ("we", "us", "our") is a matrimony service exclusively serving the Updeshi Hindu community worldwide. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
- Account info: name, email, phone, password (hashed).
- Matrimonial profile: gender, date of birth, caste, dharm guru, mother tongue, education, occupation, income range, height, location, family details.
- Photos you upload (up to 10).
- Interactions: interests sent/received, profiles viewed, subscription and payment history.
- Device information: IP address, browser type, session logs (used for security).
3. How we use your information
- To create and operate your matrimonial profile.
- To match and display profiles to opposite-gender members of our community.
- To send OTPs, notifications, and important service updates.
- To process subscription payments via Razorpay (we do not store card data).
- To moderate profiles and prevent misuse (block/delete abusive accounts).
4. Gender-based visibility
To respect community norms, male members can view only female profiles, and female members can view only male profiles.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share limited information only with payment processors (Razorpay), email/SMS providers (for OTP), and authorized administrators for moderation.
6. Your rights
- Access and update your profile at any time.
- Delete your profile permanently from the Delete Profile page.
- Request removal of specific photos.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications.
7. Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions are token-based with expiry. All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We follow industry best practices to protect your data.
8. Data retention
We retain your profile as long as your account is active. When you delete your profile, all associated data (photos, interests, subscription) is permanently removed.
